A
fine and impressive Irish Coffee Jug, Dublin circa 1770. The
maker's mark is considered to be an alternative mark of William
Homer. Height: 12.5ins. Weight: 1000gms/35ozs(AV). The arms
are those of Beaumont impaling Vane-Tempest quartering Stewart,
for Wentworth Canning Blackett Beaumont, 1st Viscount Allendale.
The Crest is that of Allendale. Fitted with ivory handle.
At some time in its history the Jug has had a compression
to the base. This has been corrected but there is slight evidence
in the interior and where the base joins the body. This is
very minor and is mentioned for accuracy.
